Notary Publics are of course a source of convenience for their employers, although you are not required to be employed to serve as a NYS Notary Public as a State Officer. The value of a Notary Public to an employer however runs much deeper than the convenience factor. Simply put....by creating notary certicicates such as affidavits on documents signed in agreement...a Notary Public thereby protects his/her organization. How? By raising the level of accountability in people signing in agreement. Twenty-five years ago…when I left 8 years of active service in the Navy... it was hard to find a high paying job because…quite frankly…employers think you are good at war stuff and maybe a little rusty at the civilian world, or as we Vets refer to it as, “The Real World”. I was in the military to pay for my education because my college career stalled after 1 year of tuition bills. Ugggggh!
