Step 1 · NYS exam prep for in-person notarizing — $77

The live class. Recorded. Pause it until it sticks.

This $77 course is the same training from Mike Brown’s live notary classes, delivered on award-winning adult education software — in the comfort of your home. Stop, pause, repeat, and resume as long as you need. Hundreds of practice exam questions. Sold by Notary Training & Supplies Inc. After you pass, the $78 RON class has no second state exam.

Live New York notary licensing class with a full room — the recording you take at home is this training.

Instructor

Mike Brown

B.S. Occupational Education, Southern Illinois University · M.S. Administration, Central Michigan University

Founder of the New York State Notary Association since 2001, a volunteer service for licensed New York notaries. Paid classes and supplies are delivered through Notary Training & Supplies Inc, the association’s chosen vendor. Before the classroom he was a senior claims representative and investigator for The Hartford and Aetna in New York, then trial prep manager and investigations supervisor at a New York law firm on the 9/11 sick rescue workers class action. U.S. Navy veteran. That background is why the class uses workplace examples instead of a five-hour recitation of the booklet.

He taught live five-hour seminars across the state that students rated 5. The $77 class is that same room on award-winning adult education software: stop, pause, repeat, and resume as long as you need, with hundreds of practice exam questions. ESL students use the replay. Lawyers and legislators use it to save a Saturday. When New York authorized Remote Online Notary in 2023, the $78 RON / electronic notary class was added as the upgrade after the $77 exam prep — not a replacement, and not a second state exam. That class includes 10% off the RON software New York requires for approval.

What’s in the class

The exact same training as the live events, on award-winning adult education software — without the hotel ballroom. Seven video sessions on New York’s Notary Public License Law the way the 40-question exam asks it. Stop, pause, repeat, resume. Hundreds of practice exam questions mark what you missed and explain why the almost-right answer is wrong.

  1. 01How the 40-question exam is written — and why a national notary quiz will not save you
  2. 02Eligibility, residency, and the people the License Law quietly bars
  3. 03Certificates: venue, jurat, acknowledgments, and the statement of authority
  4. 04Fees, protests, official character, and authentications
  5. 05Misconduct, felonies, misdemeanors, and the sentence ladder the exam still asks
  6. 06Wills, conveyances, chattel, depositions, and Sunday rules
  7. 07Walk-in day, the pass slip, and the $60 commission filing

Who this is for

Bankers, title clerks, legal assistants, hospital registrars, office managers, people building a mobile notary side income, and ESL students who need spoken English, analogies, and quizzes they can repeat. It is also for lawyers and state legislators: New York lets both hold notary as an additional public office. They still sit the same 40 questions unless they are exam-exempt attorneys.

Access, guarantee, newsletter

Plan on about five hours. Login email usually arrives within ten minutes — check spam. Access starts at four months; ask and we add four more at no charge. After eight months, another four is $35. Sit the exam within six months of finishing and fail? Send the NY notice. We repeat the class. Fewer than one percent have used that. Lifetime association membership and the monthly video newsletter ride with the class. New York does not require continuing education; procedure changes still get people in trouble.
